Privacy Policy

1.Information we collect

Personal data: your name and email address, and a password if you did not sign in through a provider. We collect this when you create an account.

Non-personal data: cookies, IP address, browser and device information, and ordinary server logs. This is collected automatically when you use the site and helps us keep it working and secure.

2.Use of information

We use your email address to manage your account, to send the alerts you have enabled about your budgets and anything we stopped, and to reach you about your subscription.

We use the rest to run the service, take payment, and keep it secure and working. We do not use your data to train models and we do not use it for advertising.

3.Data from your AWS accounts

When you connect an AWS account, we read the usage and cost data for the resources in it, together with the identifiers we need to act on them.

We do not read the contents of your storage or your databases. The role our CloudFormation stack creates does not grant permission to, which you can verify in the template before you deploy it.

We use this data only to show you your spend and to stop resources you have armed with a budget. You can revoke our access at any time by deleting the stack.

4.Sharing of data

We do not sell your data.

We share it with service providers who help us run SwitchKiller — hosting, payments and email — who act only on our instructions. If you accept analytics cookies, Google also receives data about your visit. Some of these providers operate outside Switzerland, and those transfers rely on the safeguards the law provides.

We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the security of the service.

5.Cookies

We set a cookie when you sign in, to keep you signed in. The site does not work without it.

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. Its cookies are only set if you accept them when asked, and declining costs you nothing — the site works the same either way.

You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser, which removes your choice and the analytics cookies with it.

6.Security

Passwords are hashed, and we never hold your AWS keys — access is through a role you create and can revoke. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7.User rights

You may ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to us. If you are in the EEA or the UK you may also complain to your data protection authority.

8.Data retention

We keep your data while your account is open. Deleting your account removes it, except where the law requires us to keep records for longer.

9.Updates to this policy

We may update this policy, and will notify you of material changes by email.

10.Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of Switzerland.
