Terms of Service
Last updated 20 September 2026
1.Agreement
These terms are a contract between you and rd GmbH, Chamerstrasse 174, 6300 Zug, Switzerland ("we", "us"), which operates SwitchKiller. You accept them by creating an account, connecting an AWS account, or subscribing. If you accept on behalf of a company, you confirm you may bind it.
2.What the service is
SwitchKiller watches usage in AWS accounts you connect, estimates its cost, and attempts to stop resources you have armed with a budget when that budget is exceeded.
It is a tool, not insurance. It does not guarantee your AWS bill, and it does not replace your own cost controls.
3.Your AWS account
You grant access by deploying a CloudFormation stack that creates a role we assume, and you are responsible for reviewing what it grants. You may revoke it at any time by deleting the stack, which stops us watching and stops us acting.
Your AWS account and every charge AWS bills you remain yours, whether or not we acted, failed to act, or acted late.
4.Estimates are not invoices
The figures we show are our estimate, made quickly so it can be acted on. They exclude free tier, savings plans, credits, discounts, tax and meters we do not count, and they may differ from what AWS charges you. A budget is applied to that estimate, so it is an approximate threshold, not a ceiling on your bill.
5.It can fail, and stopping is disruptive
We do not warrant that the service will stop anything, on time or at all. AWS outages, throttling, delayed or missing metrics, lost access, our own downtime and software defects can all prevent or delay a stop, and spend accrues while that happens. Usage can also outrun any external tool.
Stopping is disruptive by design: it may drop connections, refuse requests and discard ephemeral data. By arming a resource you accept that and its consequences. Restores are best-efforts, and a stop does not halt every charge — storage and other meters can keep billing.
6.Fees
Subscriptions are billed in advance and are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise. You may cancel at any time; access continues to the end of the period you paid for. Price changes take effect at your next renewal.
If a subscription lapses we stop watching and stop acting, and we are not liable for anything that happens after that.
7.No warranty, and limits on our liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind so far as the law allows.
We are not liable for charges billed to you by AWS or any other provider, whether we failed to detect spend, failed to stop a resource, stopped it late, stopped the wrong thing, were unavailable, or worked exactly as designed. Those are your charges.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profit, revenue or data. Our total liability for all claims combined is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Swiss law voids any advance exclusion for unlawful intent or gross negligence, and we do not attempt one.
You will cover claims brought against us by third parties arising from your use of the service or your AWS account.
8.Your data
We read usage and cost data from the accounts you connect, and the identifiers needed to act on them. We do not read the contents of your storage or databases, and the access you grant does not permit it. We use third parties for payments, email and hosting.
9.Updates to terms
We may update these terms. You will be notified of material changes by email before they take effect, and continuing to use the service means you accept them.
10.Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland
By using SwitchKiller, you agree to these terms.
